Data sharing between InsideTracker and Apple HealthUpdated 8 months ago

InsideTracker connects to the Apple Health app on your iPhone or iPad. You have the option to share the following information with us:

  • Activity
  • Body Fat Percentage
  • Cardio Fitness
  • Heart Rate
  • Heart Rate Variability
  • Resting Heart Rate
  • Sleep
  • Weight
  • Workouts

How it works

Recently updated iPhones and iPads should automatically have the Health app installed. According to Apple, the Health App "collects health and fitness data from your iPhone, the built-in sensors on your Apple Watch, compatible third-party devices, and apps that use HealthKit." You can read more about how Apple Health works here.

When you connect your Apple Health account to your InsideTracker account, the past 90 days of activity data is sent to InsideTracker. After removing the connection, all associated wearable data is deleted from your InsideTracker account.

The InsideTracker connectivity to Apple Health is unique in that it connects to another app, whereas other wearable devices (Fitbit and Garmin) are connected to InsideTracker via server to server connection.

Additionally, Apple Health collects data from compatible third-party devices and apps that you record fitness information on. These often includes apps (like Strava, Nike Run Club, Peloton) and wearable fitness trackers (such as Garmin and WHOOP).

InsideTracker can reflect third-party workout and health metric data back to you in the InsideTracker app. This means that workouts recorded on a third-party app which have an established connection to Apple Health will populate in your InsideTracker app Home screen and auto check you in for relevant exercise recommendations. This also includes health metric data, such as sleep, RHR, and steps.
